Your role

At Saab, we are at the forefront of innovation in the aerospace and defence industry. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Avionics Requirements Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability and performance of our avionics systems. We are looking for a specialist to contribute to our mission of delivering cutting-edge technology.

As a Senior Avionics Requirements Engineer in our Avionics division, you will be responsible for defining, analysing, and managing systems requirements. You will work closely with our engineering teams to break down system-level requirements into software development and verification levels, ensuring traceability throughout the lifecycle. Your role will involve working according to the V-model to validate that our products meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key responsibilities include

  • Developing and maintaining requirement specifications and verification plans.
  • Allocating system requirements to software and hardware components.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve requirement ambiguities.
  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, specifically DO-178C.
  • Providing feedback and recommendations for improving requirements quality and traceability.

Your profile

We offer a crucial role within a society-critical operation, where your work will contribute to the development of advanced aviation solutions. You will have the opportunity to be part of an exciting and forward-looking aviation project, working alongside a highly experienced and skilled team. In this role, your requirements engineering expertise will play a key part in shaping both technical solutions and project success, allowing you to make a meaningful impact in an organisation that values your contribution.

We are looking for someone who has

  • Experience working according to the V-model and a deep understanding of DO-178C, particularly its application within requirements engineering.
  • Proven experience as a Requirements Engineer within the avionics, automotive, or embedded systems industry.
  • Strong knowledge of requirements engineering methodologies and tools.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong attention to detail.
  • Experience working with requirements management tools such as DOORS or Jama.
  • Knowledge of avionics software development processes and relevant industry standards.

It is considered a plus if you have experience with safety-critical software development and certification processes, as is familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). Strong communication and documentation skills are essential, enabling effective collaboration with stakeholders across different disciplines. Relevant certifications in systems engineering, avionics, or related fields would be considered a significant advantage.

We review applications on an ongoing basis. However, as the summer holiday period is approaching, final feedback may not be provided until after the summer. If this opportunity interests you, we encourage you to submit your application today.

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.

What you will be part of

Explore a wealth of possibilities. Take on challenges, create smart inventions, and grow beyond. This is a place for curious minds, brave pioneers, and everyone in between. Together, we achieve the extraordinary, each bringing our unique perspectives. Your part matters.
