Technical Account Manager

Location: Oldenzaal | Employment: 32–40 hours per week

Salary: €4,000–€5,500 gross per month on a full-time basis, excluding holiday allowance

About this role.

Can you understand technical customer challenges and do you value long-term relationships? As a Technical Account Manager at iAUTOMATION and OT Security Hub, you will connect customers with our technical teams. You will explore challenges in industrial automation, IT/OT infrastructure and OT cybersecurity and work with engineers to turn them into practical proposals.

Based in Oldenzaal, you will work with customers across the Benelux, including pharmaceuticals, energy, chemicals, and food and beverage. You will speak with technical managers, engineers, IT/OT specialists, procurement teams and decision-makers. Opportunities may concern a new automation project, modernization of an existing installation, technical advice or a multi-year service or security solution.

You will maintain existing relationships, identify new opportunities and help customers establish what they actually need. You will consult our specialists to determine appropriate solutions, required activities and a clear scope of work. You will guide commercial opportunities through proposals, negotiations, orders and a careful handover to delivery teams.

We are looking for someone with commercial awareness who listens carefully and is genuinely curious about technology. Both technical and commercial backgrounds can be relevant; you do not need to be a PLC programmer to have strong conversations about automation challenges.

What will you do?

Your responsibilities will include

  • Customer relationships and business development: Build trust through regular contact, reliable follow-up and genuine interest in customer needs.
  • Needs assessment and opportunity identification: Understand technical and business objectives and identify where improvements would create value.
  • Technical proposals and quotations: Work with engineers to prepare realistic offers with a clear and deliverable scope.
  • Customer presentations: Explain solutions, scope and cost to technical and commercial audiences.
  • Commercial process management: Coordinate next steps, decision-making and agreements from initial discussion through order.
  • Handover to engineering and project teams: Make sure colleagues understand what has been agreed and promised.
  • Customer visits and events: Represent iAUTOMATION and OT Security Hub and share market insights with engineers and management.

The level of independence expected will depend on your experience, the project and the customer environment.

What does the role offer?

  • A gross monthly salary of €4,000–€5,500, depending on your knowledge and experience, on a full-time basis and excluding holiday allowance.
  • 25 vacation days and 13 additional ADV days each year for full-time employees (38 days off in total).
  • 8% holiday allowance, paid in June.
  • Pension accrual through Pensioenfonds Metaal en Techniek (PMT), subject to the pension scheme’s participation requirements.
  • Employment conditions under the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement for Metal and Technology – Technical Installation Companies (CAO Metaal en Techniek – Technisch Installatiebedrijf).
  • Flexible working hours between 08:00 and 18:00, where operational needs and customer commitments allow.
  • A commuting allowance of €0.25 per kilometre for travel by private vehicle, up to a maximum commuting distance of 60 kilometres one way, in accordance with company policy.
  • Compensation for overtime and additional business travel time in accordance with the applicable arrangements.
  • Opportunities for education, training and certifications in line with your role and development.
  • Varied work in industrial environments, direct communication and supportive colleagues.
  • Annual team activities and a company Christmas dinner.
  • A performance-related commercial bonus scheme in addition to the fixed salary.

Full-time employment means 38 paid contractual hours per week, with a 40-hour working week and ADV time accrued. For part-time employees, salary and leave are calculated pro rata.

What knowledge and experience do we ask for?

  • HBO working and thinking level, for example in Industrial Engineering and Management, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation or Commercial Economics.
  • At least three years of experience in a technical or commercial role.
  • An interest in industrial automation, IT/OT and cybersecurity.
  • The ability to listen carefully, ask follow-up questions and document agreements clearly.
  • An independent approach and attention to long-term customer relationships.
  • Willingness to visit customers across the Benelux.
  • Good command of Dutch and English.

Industry experience is an advantage, but you do not need to know every solution in advance. Engineers interested in moving into a commercial role are also welcome; you will develop your technical and commercial knowledge with colleagues.
