Our Technical Resources Team in Maastricht is currently looking for a:

Material Specialist (fulltime)

Your challenge

As a Material Specialist, you will play a key role in developing, evaluating, and optimizing raw materials and formulations to ensure high-performing products. You will design and execute laboratory trials, analyze material data, and translate findings into practical industrial applications. Working closely with R&D, Production, and Technical Service teams, you will drive innovation, support process improvements, ensure compliance with quality and EH&S standards, and contribute to the continuous development of our products and processes.

What will you do?

• Conduct and support R&D projects in glass and formulation science.
• Perform experiments, analyze results, and translate findings into practical recommendations.
• Prepare technical reports and provide support for customer-related activities.
• Manage multiple short-term projects and ensure timely completion of tasks and milestones.
• Use advanced analytical techniques for material characterization Such as SEM, XRD, DSC etc….
• Support raw material replacement initiatives.
• Collaborate with TSM, Quality, and Production teams to drive innovation and process improvements.
• Take ownership of laboratory equipment, maintenance, and safety standards.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing, training, and continuous improvement.
• Work in compliance with quality, environmental, and safety standards within the automotive industry.

What do you bring?

• Bachelor’s degree in materials or chemistry, or relevant technical education with preferably proven experience in glass and ceramic materials, and/or paste formulations, thick film application and materials processing.
• Good knowledge of analytical and characterization techniques in material science.
• Good teamwork skills within R&D and with other departments.
• Ability to work on multiple work packages and projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English is mandatory.
