Something exciting is coming to Amsterdam's South Axis! We're transforming an iconic building into The July Amsterdam South Axis, our newest apartment-hotel with 244 rooms, a vibrant restaurant and bar, gym & wellness area, meeting & events spaces, dedicated co-working area and welcoming spaces designed to bring together travellers, locals and the surrounding community. Expected to open in spring 2027, this new destination will combine thoughtful design, sustainability and the comfort of home with the energy of Amsterdam.

At The July, we believe our people bring our spaces to life. That is why we are looking for a confident and inspiring General Manager to lead our newest Amsterdam location. With a larger-scale operation, a strong Food & Beverage offering and a mix of short- and long-stay guests, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospitality leader who knows how to bring all aspects of a hotel together. You will build and empower your team, safeguard standards and create a workplace culture where hospitality feels natural and genuine.

The job

As the General Manager, you will oversee all aspects of our 244-room apartment-hotel, including its extensive Food & Beverage offering. The pre-opening phase gives you a unique opportunity to build your team, shape the operations and lay the foundation for a successful opening.

You will embrace our open and positive culture, with a strong focus on continuous improvement. Working closely with The July's HQ, you will use your operational expertise, commercial mindset and creativity to deliver an exceptional guest experience while driving strong financial results. You understand the dynamics of both hotel, F&B operations, Meeting & Events including the designated co-working area and know how to bring different teams and stakeholders together to create one seamless hospitality experience.

As a hands-on leader, you will inspire your team by example, creating a positive impact on both our people and guests while building a vibrant and supportive community where everyone thrives.

Your responsibilities will include managing the overall profit and loss performance (P&L), optimizing operational efficiency and achieving ambitious financial targets. You will continuously strengthen our brand proposition through exceptional guest experiences, strong team engagement and a successful F&B and Meeting & Events operation that appeals to both hotel guests and the local community.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure exceptional guest experiences and uphold the unique 'The July' vibe. We genuinely care about our guests and each other, believing in making a positive impact every day.
• Be the face of The July Amsterdam South Axis, building strong connections with the local community, businesses and hospitality partners.
• Lead a successful pre-opening, from operational preparations and team recruitment to creating a smooth and memorable opening experience.
• Oversee day-to-day apartment-hotel operations, including the overall Food & Beverage and Meeting & Events experience, ensuring high standards across all departments.
• Be a visible and hands-on leader, engaging with guests, your team and key stakeholders.
• Lead, mentor and develop your management team, encouraging ownership, collaboration and continuous growth.
• Drive commercial performance, optimize profitability and take full responsibility for the hotel's financial results and P&L.
• Ensure our positive impact strategy (ESG) is integrated into daily hotel operations.
• Create an open and supportive working environment, safeguarding The July's company culture and core values.
• Maintain compliance with health, safety and hotel regulations, ensuring a safe environment for guests and the team.

What we are looking for

• A charismatic and experienced hospitality leader who is ready to take ownership of one of our largest locations.
• A people-focused leader who knows how to inspire, empower and bring out the best in their team.
• A strong operational background in hotels or apartment-hotels, ideally with experience managing both short- and long-stay operations.
• Solid Food & Beverage and Meeting & Events experience at a senior management level, with a good understanding of restaurant operations, commercial performance and guest experience.
• An entrepreneurial mindset: you act proactively, recognize opportunities and know how to turn ideas into results.
• A commercially driven professional who understands financial performance, P&L management and operational efficiency.
• Experience with hotel openings or large-scale hospitality operations is a strong advantage.
• At least 5 to 10 years of senior management experience within the hospitality industry, including experience as a General Manager or a comparable leadership role.
• Available to join well ahead of our anticipated opening in spring 2027.
