Position Summary

Bentley Systems is looking for an engineering manager to lead our AI Acceleration team in Pune, focused on moving practical AI ideas from experimentation into secure, reliable product capabilities that support how infrastructure is designed, built, and operated.

This role combines day-to-day people leadership, technical judgment, and delivery ownership. You will guide a software engineering team, partner with Product Managers, Technical Leads, Architects, UX, Quality Engineering, and AI specialists, and ensure the team delivers well-defined outcomes aligned with Bentley Infrastructure Cloud priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a software engineering team in Pune, fostering ownership, collaboration, inclusion, learning, and reliable delivery.
• Guide the delivery of AI-enabled product capabilities from validated concepts through production readiness.
• Translate agreed product and technical priorities into team plans, milestones, and clear execution commitments.
• Partner with Technical Leads and Architects on solution design, engineering standards, technical trade-offs, and implementation decisions within the team's scope.
• Ensure the team applies responsible AI and engineering practices, including security, privacy, reliability, evaluation, observability, and human-centered design.
• Establish consistent team practices for experimentation, feature evaluation, quality gates, CI/CD, automation, and operational readiness.
• Support hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development for engineers on the team.
• Use customer feedback, telemetry, and engineering data to improve delivery predictability, product quality, and team effectiveness.
• Coordinate with Product Management, UX, Quality Engineering, Platform, and peer engineering teams to manage dependencies and deliver committed outcomes.
• Communicate team plans, progress, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs clearly to immediate stakeholders and leadership.
• Help the team understand how its work contributes to Bentley Infrastructure Cloud priorities and customer outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 3+ years of people management experience leading, coaching, and developing software engineering teams.
• 8+ years of software development experience building enterprise applications, cloud services, platforms, or AI-enabled products.
• A strong technical foundation and the ability to participate effectively in architecture and design discussions, evaluate trade-offs, and help the team make sound implementation decisions.
• Experience helping teams move AI-enabled features, intelligent developer tools, data-driven capabilities, or emerging technologies from exploration into production use.
• Working knowledge of cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, APIs, security, data, and modern software engineering practices.
• Experience improving code quality, testing, automation, CI/CD, reliability, observability, and operational practices within an engineering team.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, onboard, engage, and develop software engineers.
• Ability to work through ambiguity, convert defined priorities into actionable team plans, and balance delivery speed with quality and maintainability.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross-functional and globally distributed partners to deliver team-level outcomes.
• A practical builder's mindset, enthusiasm for applied AI, and interest in creating technology with meaningful real-world impact.
