About the job
More than 2,000 law firms work in our platform every day. You decide where it goes next. BaseNet is the market leader in legal practice management in Benelux, building the software firms use to manage their case files, time, documents, billing and client communication. We’re not building one product but a portfolio: an all-in-one platform, a new modular platform, AI agents and a premium AI proposition developed with a partner within the group. The question isn’t whether BaseNet will change, but how: which product we build for which customer, in what order, and what we build ourselves versus with others. You answer that question, and you build the product organisation that delivers on the answer.
What you'll be doing
BaseNet has a strong product, a large and loyal customer base and a team that knows the platform inside out. What’s missing is someone who sets the product direction and owns the craft. Today, the product vision sits with a handful of people, on top of their other work. You take that over: as Head of Product, you join the management team alongside the technical lead, and you’re accountable for what BaseNet builds and why.
You’re responsible for a portfolio of product lines, each with its own stage, target audience and pricing model:
- BaseNet and the migration to BaseNeQXt, the all-in-one platform for the legal profession.
- BaseFlows: a new, modular, API- and MCP-first platform.
- FloosAI: an AI intake agent.
- AI Premium, powered by Andri.
- Integrations and partners.
In practice, that means translating strategy into a roadmap where every initiative has a customer goal and a measurable outcome, not just a feature name. You make the trade-offs between these product lines explicit, and you’re not afraid to say no. Together with engineering, you organise product and engineering into teams with their own domains and real ownership. And you turn discovery into a discipline: structured customer contact and usage data instead of input from one-off conversations.
We don’t expect you to bring deep legal expertise, but we do expect you to actively bring it in. Through discovery, standing customer panels and conversations with firms, you and the team build the domain understanding that good product decisions depend on.
You’ll also build the product team. It currently has three product managers and a designer, some of them new, all with a lot of potential. You make them better: you set the bar for discovery, specs and prioritisation, coach them individually and as a team, and make sure they have the space and trust to be ambitious.
Your responsibilities
- You shape BaseNet’s product vision and strategy and, as a member of the management team, share responsibility for the company’s direction and results.
- You own the roadmap across the entire product portfolio. You take executive management and the Blinqx Product Board along in your choices, so they understand the trade-offs and help champion the direction.
- You steer on outcomes: every roadmap item has a customer goal and a success criterion, and you measure whether it delivered.
- You grow and lead the product team: hiring, coaching, people management, and developing product managers into full owners of their domains.
- Together with engineering, you shape the way of working: domain teams, clear roles between product and development, and a planning and review cadence everyone understands.
- You make discovery structural: standing customer groups, interviews, usage data and support signals, so decisions rest on evidence rather than on the loudest voice in the room. This is also how you bring in the legal domain knowledge the team needs.
- You decide between building, partnering or drawing on the group: the other Blinqx legal companies, cross-sell and integration partners, and Blinqx’s central AI team. You back those choices with solid reasoning and put the agreements in place that go with them.
- You define the product’s AI strategy: where AI genuinely changes how a firm works, and which proposition fits which type of customer.
- You build business cases and pricing together with commercial and finance. You manage several pricing models side by side, from licences to pricing per completed intake.
- You position BaseNet within Blinqx Legal: you align with the other legal companies on scope and collaboration, so propositions reinforce each other rather than compete.
- You make sure marketing, sales, support and customer experience are involved from the start, not only at release.
About the team
BaseNet has been active since 2000 and is the market leader in legal practice management in the Netherlands, with more than 2,000 firms as customers, from sole practitioners to firms with dozens of lawyers. Since 2023, we’ve been part of Blinqx, a group of more than 750 people building software for financial and business service professionals: legal, insurance and mortgages, accountancy and finance. Within Blinqx Legal, you work with the group’s other legal companies, including Andri, and with Blinqx’s central AI team.
You’re a member of BaseNet’s management team and report to executive management. You lead the product team (product managers and design) and, together with the technical lead, form the duo that steers product and engineering. Functionally, you work closely with the group’s Head of Product.
A platform renewal is under way, AI agents are being built and the product organisation is being redesigned. You won’t be stepping into a finished setup. If you enjoy setting direction and bringing structure while the train keeps moving, and helping a team grow in ambition as well as in realism, this is your role.
What you bring
- At least 8 years of experience in product management in B2B SaaS, including at least 3 years in a product leadership role (Head of Product, Director of Product, Group Product Manager) with product people on your team.
- You’ve led a portfolio of multiple products, or a platform or suite product with multiple modules, user groups and use cases built on a single foundation. You know how to choose between core and module, and between building, partnering and reusing.
- You have experience with usage-based pricing models alongside traditional licence models, and you know how to make different pricing models work side by side within one portfolio.
- You’ve built a product organisation or taken one to the next level: roles, ways of working, discovery, roadmapping and product analytics. And you have a track record of making product managers better.
- You’ve brought AI-driven products or features to customers, you can tell hype from value, and you use AI in your own work every day.
- You’ve been through a platform renewal or the replacement of a legacy product, with an existing customer base that had to come along.
- You think commercially: business cases, pricing and positioning are part of the product craft for you. You back up your choices with numbers.
- You’re a genuine sparring partner for executive management and engineering: you set out a vision, bring the team along and adjust course when the data calls for it.
- You still do discovery yourself: you sit down with customers and know what’s happening on the ground.
- You’ve stayed long enough to see what your choices delivered.
- You’re based in Amsterdam. We work hybrid, with the emphasis on time in the office.
- You have a valid work permit for the Netherlands.
What we offer
