Your role

Building Management Systems Automation Engineer (BMS)

Region Leiden | Start in consultation | Long-term commitment | Onsite / Hybrid

For a pharmaceutical production environment, we are looking for an Automation Engineer specialized in Building Management Systems (BMS) and Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS). In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation and lifecycle management of BMS/EMS systems within a GMP-regulated environment. You will work in a multidisciplinary automation team to deliver reliable, compliant and future-proof automation solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and configure BMS and EMS systems in accordance with GMP requirements
• Provide maintenance and technical support for automation systems, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards
• Manage vendors, subcontractors and system integrators
• Execute and coordinate automation changes within multidisciplinary project teams
• Develop and execute commissioning protocols, test plans and validation documentation
• Maintain and update lifecycle documentation and technical specifications
• Develop and maintain SOPs and work instructions for automation systems
• Ensure compliance with GAMP5 and other applicable regulatory frameworks
• Support continuous improvement of automation systems and infrastructure
• Collaborate with engineering, production and quality teams to optimize system performance

Profile

• Bachelor’s degree (HBO) in Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• 2–5 years of experience within a regulated (pharmaceutical/biotech) environment
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience with BMS systems
• Strong understanding of control philosophy and ability to write functional specifications
• Experience with GAMP5 and validation of automated systems
• Knowledge of Honeywell systems is an advantage
• Experience with P&IDs and instrumentation/control systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Independent, structured and proactive working style
• Fluent in English; Dutch is an advantage
