About the job
WORKING AT DEEP.
Hydrographic Surveyors at Deep work on exciting hydrographic and geophysical projects for the development of new offshore windfarms, salvage, large infrastructural projects, climate adaptation and coastal defence work for a wide variety of clients. You will be part of a highly skilled and experienced team, working closely with colleagues to deliver high-quality survey results using specialised equipment and advanced techniques.
Deep is specialised in the nearshore marine zones and inland waterways and has an ambition to be a planet proof sustainable survey company in the next few years. Deep also supports salvage companies when emergencies are at hand, resulting in challenging projects all around the world. Deep operates mainly in Europe, but our aim is to have fun at work and therefore we always look for international projects to challenge Deepers to go places we haven’t been before. For example, our Antarctica survey, port surveys in Djibouti, or a UXO survey in Taiwan.
YOUR ROLE.
As a Senior Hydrographic Surveyor at Deep, you will lead the execution of medium-sized projects and assist the Party Chief on larger ones. Work is primarily conducted onboard survey vessels and at project locations as part of a multidisciplinary survey team. As a senior team member, you will enjoy significant autonomy in your role, supported by a driven team to deliver outstanding project results.
In this role you will work on the mobilisation and calibration of both smaller and larger vessels, data acquisition and quality control of hydrographic data onboard survey vessels. During operations, you will oversee data quality, analyse system performance and resolve complex technical or survey setup issues to ensure that collected data and field deliverables meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy. It is essential to make independent technical decisions that contribute to successful project execution. You will act as a technical point of contact for survey-related matters and communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
Beyond day-to-day survey operations, you will assist the engineers in the warehouse with the preparation and maintenance of project equipment or offer support to the data processing department. Your support will mentor less experienced surveyors, sharing your knowledge and helping to maintain high technical and quality standards across the team.
Please note that this is a hands-on senior surveying position. We are looking for candidates with substantial practical field experience who are confident taking technical responsibility for complex survey operations, troubleshooting survey systems and working independently in demanding project environments.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES.
- Project preparation: support the preparation and execution of complex survey projects, including survey plans, mobilisation procedures and technical project requirements.
- Survey operations: independently mobilise, calibrate and execute complex multi-sensor hydrographic and geophysical survey operations.
- Project coordination & communication: coordinate technical activities and communicate effectively with clients, project teams and management.
- Quality control & deliverables: oversee survey data quality and ensure field data and deliverables meet project and client requirements.
- Equipment maintenance: maintain survey equipment and resolve common technical issues, both on the boat and in the warehouse
- Safety: maintaining a safe working environment and protecting the safety of the people on bord.
- Guidance & decision-making: support and mentor less experienced surveyors and make independent technical decisions that contribute to successful project execution.
