Position Summary

The Offshore Roustabout is responsible for supporting daily deck operations, cargo handling, equipment maintenance, and general rig activities aboard a jack-up drilling rig. The role involves physically demanding work, including lifting, rigging, cleaning, painting, and assisting with the movement of materials and equipment.

The Roustabout works under the supervision of the deck crew and supports safe and efficient drilling operations while maintaining compliance with company safety procedures and offshore regulations.

Job description

Our client is looking for roustabouts to mobilize to their jackup rig in Suriname for a 4 week assignment.

Key Responsibilities

Deck Operations & Cargo Handling

• Assist with loading and unloading supplies, equipment, and materials from offshore supply vessels.
• Support crane operations by attaching and detaching loads, handling taglines, and performing rigging duties.
• Inspect and maintain lifting gear, slings, shackles, and other rigging equipment.
• Move, secure, and organize equipment and materials across the rig deck.
• Assist with tubular handling, including drill pipe, casing, and other drilling-related materials as directed.
• Maintain clear access routes, walkways, and designated storage areas.

Rig Maintenance & General Duties

• Perform general maintenance, including cleaning, painting, chipping, scraping, and corrosion prevention.
• Assist with preventive maintenance of deck equipment, machinery, and rig structures.
• Operate basic hand tools, power tools, and other equipment as authorized.
• Support maintenance of the jack-up rig's legs, jacking equipment areas, and associated structures under supervision.
• Assist with securing equipment and preparing the rig for adverse weather conditions.
• Perform general housekeeping throughout the rig to maintain a safe working environment.

Drilling & Marine Operations Support

• Assist drilling crews with equipment handling and preparation when required.
• Support rig-up and rig-down activities, including securing and transporting equipment.
• Assist with hose handling, bulk transfers, and supply operations as directed.
• Support marine operations, including vessel loading and unloading activities.
• Participate in emergency drills and assist with emergency response duties as assigned.

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

• Follow all company HSE policies, safe working procedures, and offshore regulations.
• Participate in toolbox talks, pre-job safety meetings, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
• Comply with Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and lifting operation procedures.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions, near misses, and potential hazards.
• Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Maintain good housekeeping standards to prevent slips, trips, falls, and dropped-object incidents.
• Exercise Stop Work Authority when unsafe conditions are identified.
