About the job

About the team

The ERM Frameworks team is part of ING's Enterprise Risk Management department and plays a central role in shaping the bank's risk governance and regulatory framework. The team is responsible for maintaining the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, managing regulatory change and horizon scanning processes, and driving simplification and digitalisation initiatives across Risk.

We are looking for a curious and motivated intern who is passionate about regulations, data and emerging technologies. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a global banking environment while contributing to innovative RegTech and AI initiatives.

What you will do

As an intern, you will support a variety of strategic and operational activities, including:

  • Supporting regulatory monitoring and horizon scanning activities
  • Assisting in mapping regulations to internal policies, controls and risk frameworks
  • Analysing regulatory and risk-related datasets and helping improve data quality
  • Contributing to process improvement and digitalisation initiatives within Risk
  • Supporting the development and testing of AI and GenAI use cases for regulatory and policy management
  • Helping structure and organise regulatory knowledge repositories and data sources
  • Assisting with stakeholder workshops, presentations and project coordination
  • Exploring new RegTech solutions and identifying opportunities to streamline regulatory processes

What we are looking for

You are

  • A university student (Bachelor's or Master's) in Data Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Finance, Law, AI, Computer Science or a related field
  • Curious about how regulations shape the financial industry
  • Interested in the intersection of regulation, technology, data and AI
  • Comfortable working with data and learning new digital tools
  • Proactive, eager to learn and willing to take ownership
  • A strong communicator who enjoys working with different stakeholders
  • Fluent in English

Experience with Power BI, Python, SQL, AI tools, data analytics or regulatory technology is a plus, but not a requirement.

What you'll learn

During your internship, you will gain exposure to

  • Enterprise Risk Management and Risk Governance in a global bank
  • Regulatory Change Management and Horizon Scanning
  • AI and GenAI applications within Risk and Compliance
  • Data management and regulatory data mapping
  • Large-scale transformation and digitalisation initiatives
  • Working with senior stakeholders across multiple risk domains

Why join us?

This internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of Risk, Regulations, Data, and AI. You will be part of a highly collaborative team, gain insight into how a global bank manages regulatory change, and contribute to innovative initiatives that help shape the future of Risk management.

Rewards and benefits

This is a great opportunity to train with highly skilled people who are experts in their field. You’ll do a lot and learn a lot – not only about your specialist area and the bank, but also about yourself and whether this type of environment is right for you.

You’ll also benefit from

  • Internship allowance of 700 EUR based on 36 hours work week
  • Your own work laptop
  • Hybrid working to blend home working for focus and office working for collaboration and co-creation
  • Personal growth and challenging work with endless possibilities
  • An informal working environment with innovative colleagues

During the duration of your internship at ING, it is mandatory to be enrolled at a Dutch university (or EU-university for EU passport holders).
