About the job
WORKING AT DEEP.
Geophysical Surveyors at Deep work on exciting hydrographic and geophysical projects for the development of new offshore windfarms, salvage, large infrastructural projects, climate adaptation and coastal defence work for a wide variety of clients. You will be part of a highly skilled and experienced team, working closely with colleagues to deliver high-quality survey results using specialised equipment and advanced techniques.
Deep is specialised in nearshore marine zones and inland waterways and has an ambition to be a planet proof sustainable survey company in the next few years. Deep operates mainly in Europe, but our aim is to have fun at work and therefore we always look for international projects to challenge Deepers to go places we haven’t been before. For example, our Antarctica survey, port surveys in Djibouti, or a UXO survey in Taiwan.
YOUR ROLE.
As a Senior Geophysical Surveyor at Deep, you will lead the execution of medium-sized geophysical and hydrographic survey projects and support the Party Chief on larger projects. Work is primarily conducted onboard survey vessels and at project locations as part of a multidisciplinary survey team. As a senior team member, you will work with a high degree of autonomy, supported by a driven multidisciplinary team focused on delivering high-quality project results.
You will be responsible for the mobilisation, calibration, and operation of a range of geophysical and hydrographic survey systems, as well as the acquisition, quality control, and processing of data onboard survey vessels and at project locations. During operations, you will monitor data quality and system performance, identify and resolve complex technical issues, and optimise survey setups to ensure that collected data meets project specifications and client requirements. You will also be involved in the preparation of field deliverables when required.
Beyond day-to-day survey operations, you will act as a technical point of contact for geophysical survey-related matters, communicate effectively with clients and project teams, and make independent technical decisions that contribute to successful project execution. You will support and mentor less experienced surveyors, sharing your technical knowledge and helping to maintain high professional and quality standards across projects.
Please note that this is a hands-on senior surveying position. We are looking for candidates with substantial practical field experience who are confident taking technical responsibility for complex survey operations, troubleshooting survey systems, and working independently in demanding project environments.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES.
- Project preparation: support the preparation and execution of complex survey projects, including survey plans, mobilisation procedures, and technical project requirements.
- Survey operations: independently mobilise, calibrate, and execute complex multi-sensor hydrographic and geophysical survey operations.
- Project coordination & communication: coordinate technical activities and communicate effectively with clients, project teams, and management.
- Quality control & deliverables: oversee survey data quality and ensure field data and deliverables meet project and client requirements.
- Equipment maintenance: maintain survey equipment and resolve common technical issues, both on the boat and in the warehouse
- Safety: maintaining a safe working environment and protecting the safety of the people on bord.
- Guidance & decision-making: support and mentor less experienced surveyors and make independent technical decisions that contribute to successful project execution.
