About the job

ING's Equity Capital Markets team has two internship vacancies: one within the Origination & Execution team and one within the ECM Syndicate team. Both internships will start at the end of January or beginning of February 2027, with the exact starting date to be agreed. The Origination & Execution internship has a duration of 4 to 5 months, while the ECM Syndicate internship has a duration of 5 to 6 months, in each case to be agreed.

The Team

Equity Capital Markets (ECM) is a joint venture between ING's Corporate Finance and Global Capital Markets departments and advises companies on raising equity capital in international stock markets. Products covered include Initial Public Offerings (IPOs), technical listings, follow-on equity issuances, secondary offerings, share buybacks, preference share issuances and equity-linked transactions.

Our team has a strong track record of assisting and advising public and private companies, local and international financial sponsors and governments in structuring and executing a wide variety of equity and equity-linked transactions. Our recent IPO involvement includes the blockbuster IPOs of SpaceX, DIGI Spain, PayPay and CSG, among many others. Together with our Financial Markets teams, including Equity Research, Equity Sales, Equity Sales Trading and Corporate Access, we originate, structure, execute and distribute equity and equity-linked instruments to institutional investors and Benelux retail investors.

The two internship opportunities

Origination & Execution

The Origination & Execution team advises clients throughout the full ECM transaction process, from identifying and developing strategic equity-capital-markets opportunities to structuring, preparing and executing transactions. The team combines company and sector analysis, transaction structuring, preparation of client materials and coordination across internal and external workstreams.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in organisation of (pre-)marketing for global ECM transactions
  • Assist in organisation of (pre-)launch activities for global ECM transactions
  • Supporting transaction structuring, process coordination and preparation of client and transaction materials

ECM Syndicate

ECM Syndicate is an integral part of the ECM team and is responsible for the market execution of global ECM transactions, including equity placement, distribution, bookbuilding and price setting. The team coordinates investor marketing and interacts with issuers, institutional investors, Corporate Finance and Financial Markets teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Tracking equity markets and preparing market updates, presentations and analyses on companies, sectors and transactions
  • Supporting client pitches and transaction origination with market intelligence, valuation analysis and real-time data
  • Assisting with the preparation and execution of high-profile global ECM transactions
  • Analysing and synthesising investor feedback, broker commentary and market developments
  • Working closely with Equity Research, Equity Sales, Equity Sales Trading, Corporate Access and other internal teams
  • Assist in organisation of (pre-)marketing for global ECM transactions
  • Assist in organisation of (pre-)launch activities for global ECM transactions
  • Supporting bookbuilding, demand analysis, pricing and allocation workstreams for the ECM Syndicate team
  • Supporting transaction structuring, process coordination and preparation of client and transaction materials
  • Assisting with share buybacks, disposal transactions and deal administration where relevant

What we offer

As an ECM intern, you will work in a young, dynamic and highly motivated team on challenging projects for high-profile global clients. The internship offers:

  • A transaction-driven, dynamic and energetic work environment
  • A steep learning curve and direct exposure to live and prospective ECM transactions
  • Experience with key databases, including Bloomberg, Capital IQ, Dealogic and FactSet
  • Development of both technical skills, including PowerPoint and Excel, and interpersonal skills
  • Broad exposure across the ING Wholesale Banking organisation
  • A collaborative and enjoyable working environment within a young team

ECM transactions are complex and demanding. Joining our team will give you a strong foundation for a future career in investment banking and capital markets.

Who are we looking for

You are passionate about equities and capital markets and have strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills, sound judgement and excellent attention to detail. You work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and are an energetic, proactive team player who is willing to go the extra mile.
