About the job
Elevate your career, perform when it counts: become part of our global financial consulting evolution!
Your role
Zanders helps financial institutions and corporates manage risk, treasury and regulatory change. Regulators, banks and payment providers are under growing pressure to detect and prevent money laundering, terrorist financing and sanctions breaches, and our clients look to us for practical, well-founded solutions. As a Senior Consultant in Financial Crime Prevention (FCP), you help them build and improve the frameworks, processes and models that keep their organisations and the financial system safe.
You join the Risk Advisory Group team in the Netherlands. Your main focus is FCP work such as KYC/CDD, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, AML model validation and regulatory remediation. You can also broaden your expertise on a variety of other projects, including broader risk management, regulatory compliance, and treasury and data assignments. This mix gives you a broad view of our clients' challenges and room to develop well beyond one specialism. You work in project teams with colleagues of all levels, take responsibility for clearly defined parts of the work, and increasingly act as a point of contact for client stakeholders.
Your background will be in financial crime prevention, compliance or risk, gained at a financial institution, regulator or consultancy.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver FCP projects for banks, payment institutions and other financial clients, covering areas such as KYC/CDD, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening and AML model validation
- Support clients with regulatory remediation, from analysing findings and root causes to designing and implementing improvements
- Analyse data, processes and controls to identify patterns, gaps and risks, and turn your findings into clear, well-supported recommendations
- Contribute to a variety of other projects across risk management, regulatory compliance, treasury and data, applying your skills in new contexts
- Take ownership of workstreams within projects, balancing multiple priorities and helping plan the work so delivery stays on track
- Set clear expectations with client stakeholders and keep them informed, adjusting your communication to the audience
- Stay up to date with FCP regulation and market developments, and share your knowledge through internal sessions, articles or events
- Build relationships with clients and help identify opportunities for further business development initiatives
Skills to be successful
Essential
- A Master's degree or PhD in quantitative studies and relevant fields, such as Mathematics, Econometrics, Physics, AI etc.
- Relevant work experience in financial crime prevention, compliance or risk management, gained in financial services or consultancy
- Practical knowledge of at least one FCP area, such as KYC/CDD, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening or AML model validation
- Good understanding of the AML/CFT regulatory landscape, including EU AML regulation and Dutch requirements
- Excellent use of Python and other data analysis tools, such as SQL, MATLAB or R
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex findings into clear recommendations
- Fluent English, both written and spoken.
Also valuable
- Experience with regulatory remediation programmes or interaction with supervisors such as DNB
- Interest in broadening your experience across risk management, regulatory compliance, treasury and data projects
- Relevant certification, such as CAMS or an equivalent
- Fluency in Dutch will be considered a plus.
